DNS RELIEF FELLOWSHIP – FLORIDA

Bolivia 11-05-2019

Dear Prayer Partners,
Good morning!
In our last letter, we mentioned the fact that the civic leaders who want new elections gave the president and his followers 48 hours to resign. Well, the representative for the civic leaders, Fernando Camacho, held a huge street meeting lastnight with all of his leaders/public followers. He stressed the fact that the fight for democracy must continue. He encouraged the people to keep blocking the roads, now with transport trucks! He also encouraged blocking public institutions, and  protesting on all the international borders of Bolivia. Finally, he wrote a letter on behalf on the Bolivians asking the president to resign, and read it publicly. He told the people that he would go personally to the presidential palace and hand the letter to the president by Tuesday, November the fifth. He promised to return with the letter signed by the president of Bolivia.
As soon as we turned on the news this morning, we heard that Fernando Camacho had left Santa Cruz by plane at four in the morning, and arrived in La Paz. Now, he is on his way to the presidential palace to present the letter to President Evo with the faith that Evo will agree to resign and sign it. The problem is, the followers of Evo were at the airport waiting to harm Fernando or  put him behind bars. Somehow, the airport officials were able to hide Fernando somewhere in the airport, and he is surrounded by security guards. In the news, the mayor of Santa Cruz just reported that if anything happens to Fernando Camacho in La Paz, the president will be held responsible for the events that will follow…
Additionally, the news portrayed the anger of the president’s followers in the town of Riveralta. These people are armed with spears and ready to throw them at all who want the president’s resignation. There is alot of anger and uncertainty in Bolivia right now.
In closing, we believe that this situation could last for months and become more dangerous. It is difficult, and almost impossible to leave the house. For this reason, we are looking for a flight to Canada for Leisa. Enoel would like to remain a little longer to put last minute details in order. We trust that peace will be restored to this country so that we may return very soon. Please continue to pray for safety as we attempt to leave and get through the blockades, and for the people of Bolivia.
In Him,Enoel and Leisa
